::Thrifted Skirts to Inspire your Next Beach Vacation::
Temperatures are warming up, and summer has officially arrived. After the year we’ve had, I anticipate fun in the sun, and of course beach vacations. We’ve been locked up for sometime now due to the pandemic and the beach is calling my name. The beach is my happy place so a beach vacation is just what I need. I always say there is nothing that a beach and a bikini can’t fix. A recent trip to my local Goodwill inspired this post as I combed the racks searching for items to prepare me for a vacay. At the time, I had no idea what the world might look like but summer thrifting made me hopeful for the future. As you plan for your next beach vacation my hope is that you add some sustainable pieces to your suitcase.
Skirts are so versatile and chic especially in the summer. They are great staple pieces for any summer wardrobe and perfect for vacation. I encourage you to hit the thrift store and check out those skirts that will have you looking comfortable and cute. Thrifted skirts from Goodwill are easily restyled for fun in the sun.
Five tips to keep in mind when combing the skirt rack to create beachy looks:
TIP #1: Look for colors and prints that remind you of summer time and/or the beach.
TIP #2: Search for Midi skirts, Maxi Skirts, Wrap Skirts, Tulip Skirts and Sarong skirts as they are typically figure flattering, and versatile.
TIP #3: Opt for skirts that are lightweight and made of flowy breathable fabrics.
TIP #4: Pair your thrifted skirts with a crop top, bodysuit and even your swimsuit/bikini.
TIP #5: Look for high waisted options. If the skirt is not high waisted consider the possibility of having it altered. High-waisted anything is on trend right now.
Restyled Thrifted Skirts | Beach Vacation Approved
Restyling your thrifted skirts for your next beach vacation will require you to think outside of the box. When picking out your skirts, refrain form looking at the skirt as is. You’ll need to look at it for what it could be; the potential. There are a few ways you can style your thrifted beach skirts to create summer time fine outfits.
Obviously if you are going on a beach vacation you are planning to send some time at the beach. Coverups are essential clothing for any beach vacation. You can turn a swimsuit and/or a bikini into a full ensemble with the right coverup. It protects you from the sun, and gives you the extra coverage you may need to explore common areas such as resort bars, hotel lobbies etc. on your vacation. Check out these looks I created by simply pairing my thrifted skirt with my favorite bikini tops:
Fell in love with this navy blue maxi skirt with gold ribbon detail at first sight. This skirt is giving me sailor vibes so I paired it with my red bikini and gold chain link purse. Yes, navy is a darker color but the fabric is flowy and lightweight…its literally blowing in the wind.
This skirt is absolutely beautiful. The red, gold and purple detail gives it little something extra. Black is one of my favorite colors to wear so of course I had a black bikini to complement this tulip skirt. The overlapping panels in the front allow this skirt to effortlessly catch the beachy breeze.
There is something special about the hues of blue, green and yellow in this skirt that reminds me of paradise. This skirt is a straight structure and falls just about ankle length. The fabric is breathable and lightweight. This skirt is intended to be worn low waisted. However, it is smaller than my true size so I opted to wear it high waisted and it fit perfectly….problem solved! I pared it with a white bikini top and a cropped t shirt to ensure that all eyes are on this skirt.
Last but not least, THE skirt that inspired me to write about thrifted skirts to inspire your next beach vacation! The squiggly lines in this skirt remind me of waves and naturally white and navy remind me of the ocean. I paired this with my white bikini top and my thrifted envelope purse.
There are so many ways to be sustainable this summer including unplugging and going outside to enjoy the warmer weather. The beach is a great place to enjoy the outdoors, and my favorite place to unplug and soak up the sun. Thrifting fun pieces for your next beach vacation or outing is a sustainable practice that helps keep our planet beautiful. I would also like to add that thrifting your summer wardrobe is a great way to save some money, and stand out! My hope is that this post inspires you to hit the thrift store for affordable summer pieces that make sustainability and our planet look G-O-O-D. With that being said, you will want to check out Taylor and Court’s blog posts as they are serving sustainability all summer long!

All of the looks are cute, but the first and last looks are my favorites. You did a good job of styling all of them. Makes me rethink prints. I tend to avoid them, but these skirts are nice.
Same! I myself run from prints but these really seemed fun for the beach so i thought id give them a try. Glad you enjoyed the post, and thank you for stopping by!
