Following a few long stressful weeks at work, my husband and I decided to take a staycation! Typically, we take two vacations a year, one in the winter and one in the summer. However, due to COVID we have refrained from traveling to help stop the spread. Like many people, we use travel to rest, relax and rest from “adulting”.
For several months we have been scheduling and rescheduling staycations with respect to this virus. This weekend we decided to just do it. We love Galveston and decided that it would be the perfect getaway.
Our weekend consisted of everything that we love- margaritas, beach, fitness, and even thrifting.
I booked our room on Expedia. My plan was to purchase the room at around 11:00 AM on Friday. Due to work being super busy I was not able to book until about 2 PM. When I decided to book the room, the price dropped $20! NOW, yall know I love a discount. The first stop was The Spot, a super cool bar and chill spot on the beach. Then, a night on the balcony with a bottle of Roscoto red wine as we chatted and listened to the waves. Saturday morning, we had breakfast on the balcony and headed out for a bike ride through downtown Galveston historic district. We enjoyed a day at the pool before heading home.
On our way home we stopped at Steals & Deals a local thrift store located right off Broadway. Steals & Deals is a cute liquidation outlet with closeout merchandise. I cannot wait to go back! Finally, our last stop was dinner and drinks.
Staycations are a great way to save money and have fun. If you do it right a staycation can leave you feeling just as refreshed as a real vacation. We opted to stay close to home as we are most familiar with the COVID-19 regulations and risks in our area.
I know there is a lot going on in the world, but my guess is there is always going to be a lot going on. Self-care is so important, and I am glad we took the time to enjoy life! Do you need to rest, relax & recharge? Have you ever done a staycation?
