My husband and I have been together for several years. We feel like we are still young, and wild and free…however, after a long day we get weary! Lately, we have decided to do date day instead of date night. If you’re looking for affordable date day ideas in Houston listen up…..
These past few months have been brutal due to COVID-19, and adulting in general. I decided to present a date day to my husband and he loved the idea. Oh, and by the way my entire outfit was thrifted – scroll to the bottom for outfit details.
The Breakfast Klub
Our adventure started with breakfast at The Breakfast Klub. This is one of our favorite breakfast spots, and I think we are one of their favorite couples! Every time we go they personally welcome us back. They are basically family. The line can be long but you always meet new friends to pass the time. On this visit, I chatted with a family visiting form North Carolina. I had Catfish and Grits and Corrie, my husband had the Breakfast Special. We topped off breakfast with a mimosa…yes, a mimosa. The Breakfast Klub now has mimosas and they are delicious.
Our tickets for “Body Worlds & The Cycle of Life ” exhibit was at 11:00 A.M. We had about an hour before the exhibit started following breakfast. We headed to Herman Park and took a stroll through the Rose Garden. What a beautiful place! This was my first time visiting the Rose Garden and it was absolutely gorgeous.
Prior to entering the Museum of Natural Science we learned that Joe Biden was officially elected President of the United States! This made our date even better.
Body Worlds & The Cycle of Life Exhibit
The year of 2008 was the last time that the “Body Worlds & The Cycle of Life” exhibit was in Houston. Unfortunately, he and I missed the exhibit back then. We were so surprised to find out that “Body Worlds & The Cycle of Life” exhibit was back in Houston at The Museum of Natural Science.
This exhibit was absolutely breathtaking! It offers encounters with the inside of the human body, and effects of lifestyle choices (good and bad). There were over 100 human specimens in this exhibit. All specimens presented are preserved through Plastination. You can expect to follow the human body through the span of time and learn about the latest findings in anatomy, longevity and health. This is a must see exhibit!! It took us about an hour and 45 minutes to walkthrough the exhibit. Adult tickets are $30/per person and it was worth every penny. Masks are required and social distancing is absolutely possible in this setting. Photos are welcome – no flash.
What a lovely date we had. If you are looking for day time date ideas I definitely recommend breakfast or brunch and a trip to your local museum. Houston is a beautiful city with so much to offer. If you’re like us and you get weary at nighttime, switch it up with a daytime date.
Houston Museum District
In addition to the Museum of Natural Science, Houston’s Museum District has plenty other cool museums…check out these
Hope you enjoyed hearing about our inexpensive daytime date adventure! To all the couples out there, no matter how long you’ve been together do not forget to date each other. Have you visited a museum before?
